Next, add a new layer and draw the veins. Select the leaf outline layer and add a fill color to the leaf. Save as lastname_leaf.ai.

  2. a box that folds to have a heart on the top (see a sample of what it looks like)
  3. a box to hold pencils

Pick one of these box templates to work with. You will add graphics to the template -- keep your colors fairly light because when we print these in color the colors will appear darker.

Save as lastname_box

Finish the box, print, cut out and fold it, and turn in your file. Check these screenshots of the Illustrator print dialog box before printing to make sure you print what you intend to print.

If you missed the instructions for creating the handwriting effect, look at this tutorial.

Tues.
4-06

1st period -- finish button from yesterday.

All classes -- make a second button using different shapes and a different website link; save as lastname_button2. Turn in a copy of both buttons.

I will show you how to distribute text to layers (save as lastname_layers) and create frame by frame animation (lastname_fxf).

You will need to know your Social Security number Thursday to register for the tech prep credit (college credit that you will have waiting after graduation) you can get for this class.

Wed.
4-07

Make a frame-by-frame animation that has at least 60 keyframes (you can have more frames and/or keyframes, but you must have at least 60 keyframes). There should be some change in each frame. This can be a stick figure, a vehicle, an animal/plant/insect, or some ordinarily inanimate object that you are giving motion to. Remember that animation can include changing color, size, shape or location.

Include a background of some kind -- a city street, countryside, a room, etc. The background should be on a separate layer (below the layers with your frame x frame action), and anything that moves should also be on its own separate layer. NAME YOUR LAYERS!

Save as lastname_fxf and put a copy in the X:/Turnin/F x F folder.

Remember to bring (or memorize) your Social Security number for tomorrow.

Thurs.
4-08

I will look at your frame by frame animations to see if you are on the right track and meeting the requirements.

Fri.

Register for CATEMA system. Did you remember your Social Security number? I will take you through the process of registering.

If you need help with these things I covered with the class, click on the links:

Get everything turned in TODAY!!!!

Wed.
4-14

Open your lastname_motionguide file. I will show you how to add buttons that will control the animation.

4-15

If you missed the lesson on how to use motion guides to make an animation, work through this tutorial. I will post instructions on how to add control buttons tomorrow.

Start on creating an animated movie that is controlled with a button. Your drawn items don't have to be exactly like the ones shown, but you must have all of the same elements (background, buildings, car, button, etc.). Save as lastname_carmovie. When finished, you will publish the file in 3 formats: .fla, .swf, and .html.

Some good Flash video tutorials are at incredibleflashtutorials.com. These include Flash basics and animation. Since the videos are hosted on YouTube, you won't be able to watch them at school. They use Flash CS4, but most of them can be done on Flash CS3 also.

Fri.
4-16

End of 5th 6 Weeks

Continue working on the car movie. Make sure you READ THE WHOLE TUTORIAL!!! Don't turn this in unless you have followed all instructions -- whether or not your movie looks exactly like the example, you should still read and follow the instructions.

The oogah horn sound used in the example is in the X:/Assignments folder. There is a folder with lots of sound files in the U:/MAIKELL-BIMM/Sound Files folder if you want to look in it. You can also find sounds at http://resources.bravenet.com/audio_clips -- the sound effects and Movies / TV sections both have sound files that will work in Flash.

If you turn in any late work today, send an email to me at glenda.maikell@pflugervilleisd.net to let me know. If you don't, I won't be looking for it to grade for your six weeks grade.

Did you miss the lesson on adding buttons to your motion guide movie? Follow these instructions to complete the assignment.

Mon.

  • Click on Publish, then OK

Begin working on these Flash lessons.

Tues.
4-20

I will take a group of students to the Art Institute of Austin on May 7 during 5th - 7th periods. The number of students they can have in a group is limited, and they requested that most of the students who visit be juniors or seniors with possibly a few sophomores.

If you are interested in seeing the Art Institute's facility and finding out more about their programs, write a paragraph or two about why you are interested and why you think you should be part of the group I take. Put your name at the top along with your grade level, print and give it to me. I will decide who will go based on these papers. Turn this paper in by Friday.

Finish and turn in Windmill and Mask assignments.

Learn how to create multiple scenes and use buttons to move between scenes. Save as lastname_scenes. Publish and turn in copies of the .fla, .swf and .html files.

Positive sphere, negative cube before groupingarrowPositive sphere, negative cube after grouping A Positive sphere is grouped with a Negative cube to produce a hollow sphere with circular portions visible.

Boolean Operations in Bryce are named after George Boole (1815 - 1864) who invented a system of algebra upon which they are based.

The operations consist of applying one of three attributes to different Bryce primitives which are then grouped together to cause the Boolean effect to become visible. The three attributes are Positive, Negative and Intersect. They are enabled by clicking on the [A] button next to the object and checking the appropriate attribute.

Continue with more Boolean shapes.

Mon.
5-17

Finish the Boolean assignments from Friday. Turn in both copies (.br5 and .bmp) for each assignment.
