Look at the X:/ drive and how to save and turn in files.

Finish your autobiography paper. Before you print, make sure it is double-spaced and has your name at the top. Then print and turn in.

Clean out your network drive:
Click on the "Start" button, click on "My Documents" then open your H:/ drive (the one with your name on it). Go through the files in your folder and delete any that you do not absolutely have to keep — especially pictures and music that are not needed for any class.

Open the Word file Chapter 01 Matching in the X:/Assignment folder. Type your answer in the blank next to each term, print and turn in.

When you have turned in the copyright law worksheet, go to the B4UCopy website and read about the various risks involved with software piracy. This website is primarily aimed at college students, but much of the information applies to you.

Continue with the Keep It Legal section (links are in red bar across the top of the page). Go on to try the B4UCOPY Quiz section, and the Protect Your Personal Space section. The ©Right Stuff section has much of the same information as what you looked at yesterday.

Create a stylesheet for your Journal web page and include at least five of the properties listed below:

  • font weight
  • background color
  • background image
  • word spacing
  • text decoration
  • text transformation
  • list style type

You can decide which element(s) to use with each property. Save as journal.css.

In your journal.html page, add a <link> tag to the <head> section that will link to the new stylesheet.

Save this bathe_cat.htm file to a new folder named lastname_cat in your X:/ folder. To save it, go to File > Save As, then find your X:/ folder (make the lastname_cat folder if you haven't done so yet), and save as type "Web page, HTML only". Then right click on each of the images on the page and save them to a bathe_cat/assets folder.

Add an XHTML 1.0 Strict doctype to the bathecat.htm file (there is a copy of the XHTML DOCTYPE in the Assignment folder) and validate it at http://validator.w3.org/

Next, create an external style sheet named cat.css. (If you want, just save the lounge.css file as cat.css in the bathecat folder). Remember to put a link to the css file in your html file.

Then open this list of CSS properties. Try adding these properties (at least):

  • background color
  • background image (select one or more of these background tile images and save in the assets folder)
  • font family (Arial or Verdana for the paragraphs, a font you like for the headings)
  • font color
  • font size
  • align (for paragraphs, headings, images)

This doesn't have to look "pretty" -- just experiment with what the different properties do.
