The Counseling Office is pleased to share with you the news that the Texas Education Agency and The College Board have a signed agreement to provide one free SAT registration for any Texas 11th grader for either the May 1 or June 5 administration of the SAT.
Students can receive this free administration in one of two ways:
· Paper vouchers: Bulk mailings of paper vouchers are currently being shipped to high schools in Texas; students may use these paper vouchers to register online or to register by paper registration. (These have not yet arrived at Pflugerville High School, but when received I shall send out another email)
The process:
· Students who receive the voucher online can register for May or June using their unique voucher number; students who do not receive the online voucher communication can pick up a paper voucher from their guidance counselor and use that voucher number to register online or by paper.
· Students who have already registered for May will receive an email from the SAT Program informing them that their registration fee will be refunded and billed to the state; they have the option to change and register for the June test if they prefer and it will be free just as their original May registration would have been (The College Board will also waive the $22 change fee if they make that decision)
· The state will not pay any late registration fees; students who register after the March 31 (for May 1) or May 5 (for June 5) will get a free SAT but will be paying the late registration fee ($23) themselves.
· Restrictions: Students may only register for one free college admission exam in this 2009-2010 school year; the state will not pay for both May and June.
Once you are registered for the spring SAT, you can access an on-line practice test using the access code that is available on your PSAT report from October.
